Centrifugal Fans for Waste-to-Energy and Power Plants
airsys A/S has more than 50 years of experience in supplying centrifugal fans for processes within the energy, power and incineration industry. The fans are used for power stations, heating stations, incineration plants, CHP-stations and waste-to-energy facilities where biofuel, i.e. wood, sawdust, grass trimmings, domestic refuse, agricultural waste, biogas and other types of waste, or fossil fuels such as petroleum, gas or coal are used.

The traditional incineration plants are large processing plants that supply heat to a large number of houses, and the complex buildings and processes often require different types of fans.

The working environment place special demands on the construction and surface treatment of the fans.

Our fans supply the process with combustion air, and their performance is determined by the boiler’s current requirements for air during the incineration process. The volume of air is regulated either by means of a damper on the fan’s suction side or by using a frequency converter.

Flue gas fan
In order to exploit the energy content of the waste gases, they are fed through a heat exchanger before being released into the atmosphere. By this point their temperature is so low that no natural chimney draught can be formed, and the flue gases must therefore be helped on their way by a flue gas fan. The flue gas fan also has the function of establishing a partial vacuum in the boiler in order to minimize the risk of flue gases leaking out into the atmosphere.

Types of centrifugal fans for waste-to-energy and power
Primary air fan – Transport of air from the boiler house to the grates
Secondary air fan – Transport of air from the waste bunker to the secondary air nozzles
Cooling fan – Transport of air from the boiler house to the cooling inlets on the feeding pusher and grates
ID fan and FD fan – placed after flue gas cleaning plant and transport flue gas to the chimney through the flue gas condenser to avoid operation with flue gas in saturated condition
